Bob Brown, also known as Bulldog Bob Brown, was a Canadian professional wrestler who was active in the 1950s and throughout the rest of his 40+ year career. He was known for his snarling, vicious heel persona, and he held numerous heavyweight and tag team titles for various wrestling promotions such as the Madison Wrestling Club, Stampede Wrestling, NWA All Star Wrestling, and NWA Central States Wrestling. He was trained by Verne Gagne and Bronko Nagurski, and was given the Bulldog nickname in grade school. Brown passed away on February 5, 1997 in Kansas City, Missouri.
After his death, Brown was remembered by fans as a “potbellied grumpy old villain” who mainly worked for second tier wrestling offices, such as those in Calgary, Vancouver, the Maritimes, and Kansas City . However, he was also recognized as a “well-respected and well-liked performer” . In 2018, a fan and brewer in eastern Ontario launched Bulldog Bob Brown beer, an oatmeal brown ale with a 6.4% alcohol content . The beer is described as having a “creamy texture” with a “touch of chocolate malt” .
In addition to his wrestling career, Brown was a police officer before becoming a professional wrestler .
